Managed IT Aerospace Defense
FCI and CUI live on these endpoints. So does the audit trail.
Managed IT aerospace defense work across SoCal — primes, subcontractors, and the supply chain feeding El Segundo, Long Beach, and the Inland Empire defense cluster. CMMC Level 2 readiness. NIST 800-171. ITAR. CUI enclaves on GCC High.
Managed IT aerospace defense — the compliance enclave is the deliverable
Managed IT aerospace defense scopes differently than generic SMB managed IT. Every DoD contract touching FCI or CUI runs through CMMC. Level 1 for FCI, Level 2 for CUI. The 110 NIST 800-171 controls don't implement themselves. The C3PAO assessment doesn't care that IT was outsourced to a generalist MSP. The audit trail is the deliverable.
The engagement: scope which systems handle CUI, build the enclave (GCC High or AWS GovCloud), implement the 110 controls with evidence, produce the System Security Plan and POA&M, raise the SPRS score above what primes require, and maintain controls through the assessment cycle. WCC owns the full pipeline.

Three aerospace and defense IT realities a generalist MSP will get wrong
Defense supply chain IT is structurally different from generic SMB managed IT.
CUI cannot touch commercial M365
Commercial Microsoft 365 and Azure are not authorized for CUI. CUI requires GCC High, GCC, or AWS GovCloud. A generalist MSP that quotes commercial M365 creates a CMMC failure on day one.
SPRS score is the gate
Primes require a Supplier Performance Risk System score above a threshold — often 88+ — before awarding subcontracts. The score reflects the NIST 800-171 controls. The MSP owns the score.
ITAR is export control, not a checkbox
ITAR data on a US server accessed by a foreign national is an export violation. Offshore help desk is non-compliant by definition. WCC delivers US-citizen-only support for ITAR environments.
Why choose WCC for defense supply chain managed IT
Defense managed IT requires compliance fluency, US-citizen operations, and the engineering depth to build CUI enclaves correctly.
22+ years SoCal regulated work
Two decades of regulated infrastructure for SoCal customers. Compliance overlays the standard delivery.
Level 1 + Level 2 operational
Client environments running at CMMC Level 1 (FCI) and Level 2 (CUI). SSP documented. POA&M maintained. Assessment-ready.
Cleared for ITAR + CUI work
All ITAR and CUI environment support delivered by US citizens on US soil. Documented in the SSP. No exception.
CSLB + DIR registered
Active California contractor license. C-7 · C-10 · C-28. Prevailing wage ready for defense facility work.
The six aerospace and defense managed IT capability areas
Each capability scopes to your CMMC level, prime contract requirements, and supply chain position.
CUI Enclave Buildout
GCC High or AWS GovCloud design and migration. Tenant setup, conditional access, sensitivity labeling, DLP. CUI inventoried and migrated. Boundary in the SSP.
CMMC + NIST 800-171
110 controls implemented with evidence. SSP and POA&M produced. SPRS score improved. CMMC details.
ITAR Environment
US-citizen-only access, geofenced storage, documented controls. Foreign national exclusion enforced in HR, access, and audit. ITAR details.
Managed IT + Help Desk
Day-to-day endpoints, network, identity, M365. Help desk staffed by US citizens for environments touching CUI or ITAR.
SOC + Incident Response
Managed SIEM + EDR + 24/7 SOC. IR retainer with DoD-incident-reporting capability. SIEM.
vCISO for Defense
Strategic security leadership, prime contract response support, compliance pipeline ownership. vCISO services.
Aerospace and defense managed IT — common questions
Level 1 (FCI) is the floor — any DoD prime or sub touching info beyond publicly releasable. Level 2 (CUI) applies when the contract involves technical drawings, manufacturing specs, source code, or other CUI markings. Most aerospace and defense subcontracts now require Level 2. Your DD-254 or DFARS 252.204-7012 clause specifies which.
Commercial M365 (Business Premium, E3, E5) is not authorized to store or process CUI. GCC High is the FedRAMP High environment with ITAR and US-person requirements CUI handling demands. Commercial M365 storing CUI is a CMMC finding that blocks certification. Migration to GCC High is standard.
Small subcontractor (under 50 employees, no existing controls) starting from scratch: 6-9 months to assessment readiness. Pipeline: scope CUI boundary, build the enclave, implement 110 controls with evidence, document SSP, produce POA&M, run pre-assessment review. Larger contractor with partial controls: 3-6 months.
No. WCC implements controls, documents evidence, prepares the SSP and POA&M, and ensures the environment is assessment-ready. The certification is performed by an independent C3PAO — accreditation rules require independence from the implementer. WCC works with multiple C3PAOs and supports the assessment as the implementing partner.
CUI access by foreign nationals requires specific authorization (export license or TAA). ITAR-controlled data is generally prohibited from foreign national access without an export license. WCC structures access controls that document and enforce the boundary — foreign national employees may have general business access but not the CUI/ITAR enclave. Documented in the SSP.
Some defense work flows through cooperative vehicles. NASPO ValuePoint includes cloud and IT contracts for defense-related entities. OMNIA Partners covers federal IT goods and services. For prime DoD work, GSA Schedules and DoD vehicles (CHESS, SEWP V, NIH CIO-SP3) are the standard paths.
