IoT
Commercial IoT solutions
Environmental sensors, occupancy monitoring, smart building controls and connected devices installed by WCC on a network built to keep them reliable and secure.

The short answer
WCC installs the sensors, builds the network segment they live on, connects them to a dashboard and sets up the alerts that matter. A single-facility environmental monitoring deployment typically runs $5,000 to $15,000.
What we deliver
IoT that works after the install
IoT projects rarely fail because of the sensor. They fail because of weak connectivity, devices nobody secured, and alerts nobody receives.
Sensors and devices. Environmental, occupancy, energy and leak sensors installed and labeled.
Network. Segmented VLANs, PoE and wireless coverage designed for device density.
Security. Isolated segments, changed credentials and firmware management.
Alerts and dashboards. Thresholds set so the right person is notified when something goes out of range.
Ongoing support. Device health monitoring and battery and firmware upkeep.
Common uses
What commercial IoT is used for
| Use | What it monitors | Common in |
|---|---|---|
| Environmental monitoring | Temperature, humidity and water leaks | Server rooms, pharmacies, cold storage |
| Air quality | CO2, particulates and vape detection | Schools, offices, healthcare |
| Occupancy | People counts and space use | Offices, retail, campuses |
| Energy | Power use by circuit or building | Commercial real estate, manufacturing |
| Equipment health | Run time, vibration and faults | Warehouses, manufacturing |
Cost
What IoT deployments cost
$5K–$15K
single-facility environmental monitoring
Multi-site deployments and custom integrations are priced by design. Many sensor platforms also carry a yearly license per device.
- Device count
- More sensors and wider coverage add hardware and labor.
- Connectivity
- Areas without Wi-Fi may need cabling, cellular or low-power radio gateways.
- Integrations
- Connecting to building management or custom dashboards adds work.
- Licensing
- Cloud sensor platforms usually charge yearly per device.
- Environment
- Freezers, high ceilings and outdoor areas need rated devices.
Connectivity
Wi-Fi, PoE or low-power radio?
Wi-Fi
Uses existing wireless for sensors near access points.
Fits offices with good coverage
PoE cabling
Power and data over one cable for fixed devices.
Fits controllers and air quality sensors
Cellular or LoRaWAN
Long range and long battery life for remote or scattered devices.
Fits large sites and outdoor areas
Why WCC
Why organizations choose WCC for IoT
Connected devices are only as reliable as the network they run on. We build that first.
Network first. Cabling, Wi-Fi and segmentation designed before devices are chosen.
Security built in. IoT kept off business systems from day one.
Alerts that reach people. Every sensor has an owner and a threshold.
One contractor. Sensors, cameras, access control and network from the same team.
FAQ
IoT questions
How much does a commercial IoT deployment cost?
A single-facility environmental monitoring deployment typically runs $5,000 to $15,000, depending on sensor count, connectivity and the platform. Multi-site deployments with integrations are priced by design.
What IoT devices do you install?
Temperature, humidity, air quality and water leak sensors, occupancy and people-counting sensors, energy meters, smart building controls, and connected cameras and access control.
How do you keep IoT devices secure?
IoT devices go on their own network segment with firewall rules that block access to business systems, default passwords are changed, and firmware is kept current. Unmanaged IoT devices on a flat network are a common way attackers get in.
Do IoT sensors need Wi-Fi?
Not always. Sensors can use Wi-Fi, PoE cabling, cellular or low-power radio such as LoRaWAN, depending on the building and how far devices are from the network.
Can IoT connect to our building systems?
Yes. Sensors and controls can feed building management systems through BACnet, Modbus or vendor integrations, or report to cloud dashboards.
Which cloud platforms do you integrate with?
Vendor dashboards such as Verkada and Meraki, plus Microsoft Azure IoT Hub and AWS IoT Core for custom integrations.
