The short answer
WCC installs the technology campuses run on, from the cabling and Wi-Fi to the cameras and door locks, scheduled around the school calendar and built to one district standard. Our work includes network infrastructure across more than 500 LAUSD schools.
What we install
School technology from one contractor
Wi-Fi, cameras, doors and AV all run on the same cabling and closets. One team planning all of it avoids gaps between trades and finger-pointing later.
Every part of campus
What each area needs
| Area | Typical systems |
|---|---|
| Classrooms and labs | Wi-Fi, data drops, displays, classroom audio, paging |
| Front office and entries | Visitor entry, card access, cameras, lockdown |
| MPRs, gyms and auditoriums | High-density Wi-Fi, sound systems, displays |
| Fields, parking and perimeter | Outdoor cameras, gate access, outdoor Wi-Fi |
| Closets (MDF and IDF) | Switching, fiber, racks, power and labeling |
| Portables | Cabling or wireless links back to the main network |
District realities
Why school projects are harder than they look
Short work windows. Miss the summer and a project slips a full year. We mobilize the day access opens.
Old, inconsistent infrastructure. Aging cabling and closets differ campus to campus. We bring every site to one standard.
Safety expectations. Entry control, lockdown and camera coverage are now expected at every school.
Thin IT teams. Districts need a partner who owns design, install and documentation, then supports it.
Public project rules. Board approvals, prevailing wage and closeout paperwork are part of every job.

FAQ
K-12 school technology questions
What technology does WCC install for school districts?
Campus Wi-Fi, structured cabling and fiber, network closets and switching, security cameras, access control and lockdown, classroom and MPR AV, paging and bells, and in-building public safety radio coverage.
When do you work on campuses?
Mostly summers, winter and spring breaks, and after hours, phased campus by campus so classrooms are ready when students return.
Do you meet district requirements for contractors on campus?
Yes. Crews follow district site rules, and we complete fingerprinting and background checks where districts require them for workers around students.
Do you work on prevailing wage projects?
Yes. WCC regularly works on prevailing wage school projects, with certified payroll and the closeout documentation districts need.
Can districts buy without a new bid?
Sometimes. Depending on the project, districts may be able to use a cooperative contract instead of a separate bid. See our contract vehicles for current options.
Do you work on E-Rate projects?
Yes. WCC is a registered E-Rate service provider for eligible Wi-Fi, switching and cabling work. See E-Rate technology solutions.
Can you standardize across every campus?
Yes. We build one standard for classrooms, closets and entries, then roll it out with the same labeling, testing and documentation at every site.
