Critical infrastructure

Critical infrastructure technology for facilities that can't go down

Networks, fiber, cameras, license plate recognition and access control for public safety, transit, ports, utilities and data centers, built with redundancy and installed without interrupting operations.

The short answer

In a dispatch center, port or transit control room, an outage is an emergency. WCC designs networks and security systems for those places with redundancy, segmentation and documentation built in, and installs them in approved windows without interrupting operations.

What's different

Why critical sites need different engineering

Downtime isn't an option. Redundant WAN paths, high-availability switching, backup power and out-of-band management.

OT and IT share the site. SCADA, PLCs and traffic systems must be segmented from business networks without breaking monitoring.

Perimeters are huge. Ports and yards need thermal and long-range cameras and license plate recognition at gates.

Remote sites are weak links. Pump stations and field cabinets need rugged gear, cellular backup and remote management.

Compliance and documentation. Sector rules such as NERC CIP for utilities and TSA security directives drive audit-ready records.

How we work

Installed without interrupting operations

Assess

We inventory OT and IT systems, find segmentation gaps and map physical security coverage.

Know before we design

Design for failure

Redundancy, segmentation and failover planned from the start, not added later.

No single point of failure

Cut over safely

Approved windows, pre-staged equipment, tested rollback and full as-builts at closeout.

Operations keep running

FAQ

Critical infrastructure questions

What critical infrastructure does WCC work in?

Public safety facilities such as police, fire and dispatch; transportation and transit; ports and maritime facilities; data centers; and utility sites. We install networks, fiber, cameras, license plate recognition, access control and cabling.

How do you separate OT and IT networks?

We design networks that keep operational systems such as SCADA, PLCs and traffic controllers separate from business IT, while allowing the specific monitoring and data flows each side needs.

Can you cover large perimeters like ports and yards?

Yes. Large perimeters use long-range and thermal cameras, license plate recognition at gates and video software built for fast search across many cameras.

Can you work in facilities that can't go offline?

Yes. Work is scheduled in approved change windows, equipment is pre-staged and tested, and every cutover has a rollback plan.

Do your crews meet badging and background requirements?

Yes. Many critical sites require background checks, badging or escorts before work starts, and we plan staffing around those requirements.
