Parks and recreation technology for cities and park districts
Park cameras, outdoor Wi-Fi, automated restroom locks and community center networks for cities, counties and park districts.
Updated October 2026 · CSLB #819788, C-7, C-10, C-28
The short answer
WCC installs parks and recreation technology for California cities, counties and park districts: security cameras for parks, parking and skate parks, outdoor and community center Wi-Fi, access control and automated restroom locks, wireless and fiber links to remote sites, and AV for community rooms. Agencies can buy through our CMAS contract, and we're DIR registered for prevailing wage work.
Park realities
What makes park projects different
Spread-out sites
Parks, pools, fields and community centers spread across a city, many with no network at all.
Outdoor conditions
Sun, heat, dust, vandalism and irrigation spray demand rated, protected equipment.
Power and connectivity
Remote corners of a park may need wireless links, fiber or solar instead of trenching.
Public expectations
Residents and councils expect safe parks, working Wi-Fi and fast response to vandalism.
Small staff
Parks departments need systems they can manage centrally, not one-off setups at every site.
Public funding
Projects are often grant or bond funded, with prevailing wage and reporting requirements.
What we install
Parks and recreation technology we install
| System | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Security cameras | Parking lots, entries, playgrounds, skate parks, pools, restrooms exteriors and maintenance yards |
| Outdoor Wi-Fi | Picnic areas, plazas, sports complexes and event spaces |
| Community center networks | Wi-Fi, switching and cabling for centers, gyms and senior centers |
| Access control | Community centers, offices, pool gates, maintenance yards and storage |
| Automated restroom locks | Scheduled lock and unlock for park restrooms, managed from one dashboard |
| Site connectivity | Point-to-point wireless and fiber to link fields, pools and buildings back to the network |
| Community room AV | Displays, sound and video conferencing for meeting and activity rooms |
Remote sites
Connecting parks with no network
Many parks have power at a restroom or light pole but no network. We connect them with point-to-point wireless from a nearby city building, fiber where conduit already exists, or cellular-connected cameras where neither is practical. Cloud-managed cameras and access control let staff manage every park from one dashboard instead of visiting each site. See wireless and security cameras.
Park safety
Cameras that help with vandalism and safety
- Parking lots and entries capture vehicles and people coming and going.
- Skate parks, playgrounds and courts are covered without pointing into restrooms or private areas.
- Vandal-resistant housings and high mounting keep cameras working.
- Cloud or on-premises recording to your agency's retention policy.
- Shared access for parks staff and, where your policy allows, police.
