Avigilon Alta Cameras & Cloud VMS in Southern California

WCC Technologies Group installs Avigilon Alta cloud-managed cameras for Southern California organizations requiring fast multi-site deployment, centralized visibility, and flexible hybrid retention — with no on-premises NVR or server required.

What Is Avigilon Alta

Cloud-Managed Video — No NVR Required

Avigilon Alta is Motorola Solutions' cloud-managed video platform — cameras record to local edge storage and are managed through a centralized cloud dashboard. There is no on-premises NVR or server required. Alta is purpose-built for multi-site organizations that need centralized visibility across distributed locations without the infrastructure overhead of a server-based VMS at each site.

WCC deploys Alta for K-12 school districts managing cameras across multiple campuses, commercial real estate operators managing building cameras without on-site IT, logistics operators with multiple Inland Empire distribution centers, and as the branch-location component of Unity+Alta hybrid enterprise deployments. For on-premises deployments, see Avigilon Unity Cameras.

Platform Capabilities

Avigilon Alta Cloud VMS — Key Capabilities

Alta's cloud dashboard provides centralized visibility and management across all sites — without VPN tunnels, federated server configurations, or on-premises IT infrastructure at each location.

Centralized Multi-Site Dashboard

View live and recorded video from all Alta cameras across all sites from a single cloud dashboard — no VPN, no federated server setup. Security teams manage every location from one interface.

Edge Storage + Cloud Archive

Cameras record continuously to local edge storage sized to your retention requirement. Cloud archive provides extended retention for compliance, legal hold, or long-term storage — WCC sizes both tiers to your motion profile and WAN budget.

AI Smart Search

Person and vehicle detection at the camera — search recorded video by object type, color, or motion zone without scrubbing through hours of footage. Reduces incident investigation time significantly.

Secure Clip Sharing

Share video clips with law enforcement, HR, or legal teams via secure links with configurable expiration — no physical media, no footage transfer process, no chain-of-custody gaps.

Camera Health Monitoring

Alta's cloud dashboard surfaces camera health status, storage utilization, and connectivity alerts across all sites — WCC configures alert routing to your security or IT team for proactive issue resolution.

Alta Access Integration

Native integration with Avigilon Alta Access Control — access events linked to camera footage in a unified cloud dashboard, eliminating cross-system investigation for access-related incidents.

FAQ

Avigilon Alta Camera FAQs

What is Avigilon Alta and how is it different from Avigilon Unity?
Avigilon Alta is a cloud-managed camera platform — cameras record to local edge storage and are managed through a centralized cloud dashboard with no on-premises NVR or server required. Avigilon Unity is an on-premises platform requiring a local ACC server for recording and management. Alta is best for multi-site deployments requiring centralized visibility without infrastructure at each location. See Avigilon Unity Cameras for the on-premises alternative.
What happens to Alta camera recording if the internet goes down?
Alta cameras continue recording to local edge storage during connectivity loss — no footage is lost. When connectivity is restored, cameras sync recorded footage to the cloud archive automatically. Live remote viewing is unavailable during an outage, but local recording continues uninterrupted.
How does WCC size edge storage for Avigilon Alta cameras?
WCC sizes Alta edge storage based on camera resolution, frame rate, motion profile, and your local retention requirement before cloud sync. We also model WAN bandwidth for cloud archive upload traffic and configure off-peak upload scheduling to prevent cloud sync from impacting business-hours network performance.
Can Avigilon Alta cameras integrate with Alta Access Control?
Yes. Avigilon Alta cameras integrate natively with Alta Access Control through the unified Alta cloud dashboard — access events appear linked to camera footage, enabling rapid investigation of access-related incidents without switching between systems.
Can you deploy Alta at branch locations and Unity at headquarters?
Yes — this is a common architecture WCC deploys for multi-site organizations. Unity provides on-premises recording control and deep analytics at headquarters and high-security sites; Alta provides fast cloud-managed deployment at branches and distributed locations. WCC documents the platform differences and keeps access policies and evidence workflows consistent across both.
