The Problem

Copper Networks Can't Keep Up With Modern Demands

Organizations that rely on aging copper infrastructure are hitting real limits — in bandwidth, distance, interference resistance, and scalability. Fiber optic installation isn't just an upgrade, it's the foundation that everything else depends on.

Bandwidth Bottlenecks

Copper infrastructure has a hard ceiling on throughput. As cloud applications, video conferencing, and data-intensive workloads grow, copper becomes the limiting factor in your network.

Distance Limitations

Copper Ethernet is limited to 100 meters. Campus and multi-building environments that need longer runs have no reliable option without fiber optic installation.

Electromagnetic Interference

Copper cable is susceptible to EMI from motors, HVAC, and other electrical equipment — causing degraded performance in industrial, healthcare, and data center environments.

Future-Proofing Gaps

Copper installations that seem adequate today may not support higher-bandwidth standards — locking organizations into repeated infrastructure investments that fiber eliminates.

Why WCC

Why Southern California Organizations Choose WCC for Fiber Optic Installation

We're not a generic cabling contractor. WCC's fiber team designs, installs, splices, and certifies every network we build — with the documentation to prove it.

Certified Installers — Not Day Labor

Every fiber project is staffed by WCC's own experienced installers and fusion splicers. No temp labor, no subcontracted crews. Our team holds industry certifications and has completed hundreds of commercial fiber optic installations across Southern California.

OTDR Certified Testing — Every Strand

We don't just install — we certify. Every fiber run is OTDR tested and the results are documented in a test report you receive at project closeout. You get a verifiable performance baseline, not just a completed installation.

Fiber + Network Infrastructure Expertise

WCC's combined fiber, networking, and structured cabling expertise means your fiber plant integrates cleanly with your switching, routing, and wireless infrastructure — designed as a system, not a standalone cable run.

20+ Years Supporting Southern California

We've designed and installed fiber optic networks for enterprises, school districts, healthcare systems, and government facilities across Los Angeles, Irvine, and the Inland Empire for over two decades.

FAQs

Fiber Optic Installation FAQs — Los Angeles & Southern California

WCC installs both single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cable depending on the application. Single-mode fiber is used for long-distance runs, campus backbones, and outside plant (OSP) applications. Multi-mode fiber is used for shorter intra-building runs, data center interconnects, and structured cabling applications. We also install armored fiber, plenum-rated fiber, and direct-buried fiber for outdoor and underground applications.
Single-mode fiber has a smaller core diameter and is designed for long-distance, high-bandwidth transmission — typically used for campus backbones, building-to-building runs, and connections to carrier networks. Multi-mode fiber has a larger core and is used for shorter distances within a building or data center. WCC recommends the right fiber type based on the distance of each run, the bandwidth requirements, and the equipment at each end.
Yes. WCC installs outside plant fiber including direct-buried, conduit-fed, and aerial fiber runs for campus and multi-building environments. OSP work includes trenching or bore coordination, conduit installation, pull boxes, and proper weatherproofing and grounding at building entry points. We coordinate permitting and utility locates as part of the OSP scope.
WCC tests every fiber run using OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) testing, which measures the loss, length, and reflectance of each fiber strand and identifies any splices, connectors, or breaks. We also perform end-to-end insertion loss testing using a light source and power meter. All results are documented in a test report provided at project closeout, certifying that each strand meets the required performance specifications.
Fiber splicing is the process of permanently joining two fiber strands end-to-end. Fusion splicing uses heat to meld the glass fibers together and produces a very low-loss connection — used when cable runs exceed a single reel length, when connecting OSP fiber at building entry points, or when repairing a damaged fiber strand. WCC performs fusion splicing and documents splice loss in the project test report.
Yes. WCC troubleshoots and repairs existing fiber optic infrastructure including broken strands, damaged connectors, degraded splices, and contaminated endfaces. We also upgrade older fiber plants by adding capacity, replacing end-of-life hardware, or re-terminating connectors that no longer meet current standards. Furthermore, OTDR testing is used to locate faults and verify all repairs.
Timeline varies by scope. A single-floor or IDF-to-MDF fiber run is typically completed in one day. A campus backbone or multi-building fiber deployment is planned in phases and may take one to four weeks depending on the number of buildings, conduit availability, and whether OSP trenching or boring is required. WCC provides a detailed project schedule during the proposal phase.
Yes. WCC Technologies Group provides fiber optic installation in Los Angeles and throughout Southern California, including Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Bernardino County, Riverside County, San Diego County, and Ventura County. We deploy from our headquarters in Chino, CA with no travel fees within our primary service area.
Fiber optic installation costs vary based on fiber type, run length, number of strands, and whether OSP work is required. A single-floor IDF-to-MDF fiber run typically starts around $2,000–$6,000. A campus backbone or multi-building deployment can range from $20,000 to $100,000 or more depending on scope.
