Microsoft Intune Management
device compliance or it's not zero trust.
Microsoft Intune for SoCal SMBs and mid-market — the Microsoft device management platform that handles MDM, MAM, Windows Autopilot, compliance policies, and Conditional Access integration. The piece that makes zero-trust device compliance actually work. Included with M365 Business Premium and E3/E5. WCC handles the deployment, policy authorship, and lifecycle management.
Microsoft Intune — the device management platform under the zero-trust strategy
Microsoft Intune. The Endpoint Manager. The platform that handles mobile device management (MDM), mobile application management (MAM), Windows Autopilot zero-touch deployment, compliance policies, app deployment, and Conditional Access integration. Included with M365 Business Premium, M365 E3, M365 E5, and as a standalone subscription. The dominant Microsoft device management platform — and increasingly the universal device management platform across iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows.
The deployment problem is solved — Intune integrates with Entra ID, the agent pushes via M365 enrollment, the policies are templated. The management problem is not solved. Most SMBs license Intune (via Business Premium or E3) and never turn it on. The compliance policies that gate access to corporate data — the entire foundation of zero-trust device compliance — are in default mode allowing everything. BYOD is unmanaged. Autopilot deployment that should make new-hire setup zero-touch takes IT three hours per laptop. The license is paid for. The defense is not activated.
This page covers WCC's Intune practice. For broader Microsoft licensing context, see Microsoft 365 Business Premium. For identity and MFA, see MFA management. For broader managed IT, see managed services. Start with a free IT consultation.
Three Intune realities most baseline deployments miss
Intune is a platform. Like every platform, it's only as effective as the policies, enrollment, and lifecycle work around it. Three things most SMBs miss.
BYOD without MDM is unmanaged
Personal devices accessing corporate Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams without MDM enrollment have no controls. Selective wipe is impossible. Compliance policies don't apply. App protection policies (MAM-without-enrollment) handle BYOD without device enrollment — but still require Intune configuration.
Compliance policies gate Conditional Access
Conditional Access can require device compliance for access to corporate resources. The compliance policies — encryption, OS version, jailbreak detection, antivirus, password policy — get defined in Intune. Without compliance policies in Intune, Conditional Access can't enforce device requirements. The zero-trust device check has no source of truth.
Autopilot is zero-touch only if configured
Windows Autopilot deploys new Windows devices straight from the OEM to the end user with zero IT touch. But only if the deployment profiles, Enrollment Status Page, apps, and policies are all configured in Intune. Most SMBs that bought Autopilot-eligible hardware never set up the deployment.
Why choose WCC to manage your Intune deployment
Intune is high-touch by nature — the policies, enrollment workflows, and Autopilot configuration all need ongoing attention. The right partner has the Microsoft stack depth and the cross-platform device management discipline.
22+ years SoCal IT work
Two decades of IT work for SoCal businesses, since before MDM was the category. Device management discipline is not a learning curve.
Business Premium · E3 · E5 ready
Native integration with the M365 tenant the customer already has. Tenant-aware policy design. License optimization included.
Windows · macOS · iOS · Android
Intune is cross-platform and WCC's practice is too. macOS enrollment via ADE (Automated Device Enrollment), iOS via Apple Business Manager, Android via Enterprise enrollment.
Conditional Access integration
Intune compliance policies wired to Entra ID Conditional Access. The device check has a real source of truth. Audit-ready lifecycle documentation.
The six service areas of Intune management
Every Intune engagement is scoped to platform mix, user-group differentiation, BYOD policy, and existing maturity. These are the six service areas every engagement covers.
Intune Enrollment
MDM enrollment for corporate devices. MAM (App Protection) for BYOD. Bulk enrollment for existing fleet. Mixed enrollment for hybrid environments. Apple Business Manager and Android Enterprise enrollment for non-Windows platforms.
Compliance Policies
Compliance policies for Windows, macOS, iOS, Android. Encryption requirements. OS version minimums. Jailbreak/root detection. Password policy. Antivirus requirement. The source of truth for device-compliant Conditional Access.
Windows Autopilot
Zero-touch Windows deployment. OEM-direct shipping. Enrollment Status Page configuration. Pre-provisioning for partner OEMs. The new-hire laptop ships from Dell, the user signs in, the corporate apps and policies deploy automatically.
App Deployment
Win32 app packaging and deployment. Microsoft Store apps. iOS App Store and Android Play Store apps. App protection policies (MAM). Required vs available app deployment per group.
Conditional Access Integration
Conditional Access policies enforcing device compliance, app protection, and risk signals. Integration with Entra ID Conditional Access. See MFA management for the broader identity layer.
Joiner/Mover/Leaver
Automated device assignment at joiner. Group-based policy reapply at mover. Selective wipe at leaver. Audit logging across the device lifecycle. Documentation for compliance audits.
Microsoft Intune — common questions
Microsoft Intune is the Microsoft device management platform — the cloud-native MDM (mobile device management) and MAM (mobile application management) service. It handles device enrollment, compliance policies, app deployment, Windows Autopilot, conditional access integration, and lifecycle management across Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. Included with Microsoft 365 Business Premium, M365 E3, M365 E5, and available as a standalone subscription (Intune Plan 1 at $8/user/month or Plan 2 with advanced endpoint analytics). Replaces traditional on-prem MDM and increasingly displaces third-party MDM platforms.
MDM (Mobile Device Management) enrolls the entire device into Intune — suitable for corporate-owned devices. The organization can enforce full device policies, deploy apps, wipe the device, and apply compliance requirements. MAM (Mobile Application Management) protects corporate data within specific apps without enrolling the device — suitable for BYOD scenarios. The organization can enforce app-level policies (encryption, copy/paste restrictions, save-to restrictions) without touching the user's personal device. Most modern environments use MDM for corporate devices and MAM for BYOD.
Windows Autopilot is the Microsoft zero-touch Windows deployment service. A new Windows laptop ships directly from the OEM (Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft Surface) to the end user. The user opens the box, connects to WiFi, and signs in with their corporate Azure AD identity. Intune Autopilot deploys all corporate apps, policies, and configurations automatically. IT never touches the device. Done well, new-hire setup is 30-60 minutes of user time and zero IT time. Most SMBs that buy Autopilot-eligible hardware never set up the deployment profiles in Intune.
Conditional Access can require device compliance for access to corporate resources — meaning a user can only access Exchange, SharePoint, or specific applications if their device is compliant with Intune compliance policies. Intune is the source of truth for what "compliant" means: encryption enabled, OS version current, not jailbroken, password policy enforced, antivirus running. Without Intune compliance policies defined, Conditional Access can't enforce device requirements — the entire device-trust piece of zero trust has no source of truth.
Yes. Intune is fully cross-platform. Windows is the largest deployment surface but macOS, iOS, and Android are first-class. macOS enrollment via Apple Automated Device Enrollment (ADE) handles corporate Macs. iOS enrollment via Apple Business Manager (ABM) for corporate iPhones and iPads. Android Enterprise enrollment for corporate Androids. All four platforms support compliance policies, app deployment, and Conditional Access integration. Modern WCC engagements increasingly displace Jamf (macOS) and standalone MDM platforms (iOS/Android) with Intune as the universal device management platform.
Intune is included with several M365 SKUs: M365 Business Premium ($22/user/month), M365 E3 ($36/user/month), M365 E5 ($57/user/month). Available standalone as Intune Plan 1 at $8/user/month (includes the core MDM and MAM functionality) or Intune Plan 2 with advanced endpoint analytics. WCC management adds typically $4-$12 per user per month depending on platform mix, policy complexity, and Autopilot scope. Most SoCal SMBs already license Intune via Business Premium — the work is policy authorship, enrollment, and lifecycle management.

Microsoft Intune across Southern California
WCC delivers Intune management across all six SoCal counties — remote-first since Intune work is cloud-delivered. Headquartered in Chino.
Intune ships with Business Premium. Most SMBs never turn it on.
If you license Microsoft 365 Business Premium or E3, you already have Intune. The question is whether compliance policies are enforcing, Autopilot is deploying, BYOD is governed, and Conditional Access actually checks device compliance. WCC will audit your current Intune posture, document the gaps, and scope a deployment — standalone or bundled with broader managed IT.
