FAQ
Rhombus Installer FAQs
Can Rhombus work with our existing door hardware?
Common readers, strikes, and locks can be supported with appropriate controllers and wiring. We document each opening and map schedules/roles to your identity provider—see access control for door policy design.
How do you plan storage and bandwidth for cameras?
We plan edge retention per camera based on motion profiles and add cloud archive when needed. On the network side, we size PoE, VLANs, and QoS; for WAN we estimate preview/streaming usage and tune alert frequency and resolution—see security cameras.
What’s the approach to privacy and retention?
We implement least-privilege roles, logging, and retention aligned to your policies. Sensitive areas can use tighter access and shorter retention. We also define approval-driven export workflows with audit trails.
Do you migrate from legacy NVR/VMS?
Yes. We run phased migrations: new coverage first, then staged camera swaps and door cutovers in maintenance windows. We keep a clear rollback plan and parallel views to minimize disruption.
How are alarms handled?
We configure sensor and event policies in Rhombus and integrate with supported monitoring or incident tools when full alarm dispatch is required. We document responsibilities and escalation steps to avoid gaps.
